Real Wedding: Elizabeth and Andrew

It’s not every day you get to design for one of your best friend’s weddings, so Elizabeth and Andrew’s day was extra special to create! As a close friend of the bride, Rachell Rae Designs had the honor of not just creating stunning invitations, welcome signs, a unique seating chart display, and bar signs—but standing at Liz’s side as a bridesmaid, too! Clairborne and Churchill Winery, nestled in the Edna Valley wine region just outside San Luis Obispo, served as the idyllic backdrop for Elizabeth and Andrew's wedding. As the daughter of the winery's owners, Elizabeth chose this beautiful and personal venue to exchange vows with her beloved among rolling hills and vineyard views.

On arrival, guests were greeted with a welcome sign that incorporated one of Andrew and Liz’s favorite engagement pictures, as well as a custom champagne sign & display. In a funny twist, Liz had come Rachell with a seating chart that had inspired her—it turns out, Rachell had designed it! To showcase the winery’s historic vineyard, Rachell adapted that inspiration to create a stunning seating display mounted on rattan backing that nestled among the vines, guiding guests through the vineyard to their seats. Because of the misty morning conditions that make this area so ideal for growing the Reisling & Gewürztraminers that made the winery famous, Rachell needed to find a material that wouldn’t wrinkle or run in the weather like paper can, and sourced a super lightweight PVC for the circular design.

When guests arrived at their seats, they found custom menus that featured their name and table numbers that were designed to perfectly match the terra cotta shade of the napkins. The terra cotta color was carried through in the custom bar signs, as well. Later, toasts were poured from bottles of sparkling wine that featured custom labels with another of the couple’s favorite pictures.

Standing up for Elizabeth and Andrew while also being entrusted with the task of bringing their creative vision to life was a dream. This wedding truly became a beautiful convergence of love, friendship, and creativity for Rachell Rae Designs, and we are so honored to celebrate your marriage with you!
