A Paper Perfect Wedding in Arroyo Grande
Garrett and Anna began their relationship as desk neighbors at work, and little could they have guessed they would end up marrying on a beautiful July day on California’s Central Coast. The Arroyo Grande wedding was hosted at the groom’s uncle’s estate, which was transformed into a softly romantic blue-and-white floral dream. The contributions of loved ones provided not just the venue, but embodied the folded wishes of loved ones for the couple’s health and long life.
The primary design piece of the wedding was an incredible installation of one thousand paper cranes, folded according to Japanese tradition by the groom’s friends and family. With paper art this stunning, meaningful, and central to the overall look and feel of the event, we knew that the pieces we created would need to serve a complementary role.
We started with the welcome sign and seating chart in a classic shade of Wedgewood blue. The couple preferred that the seating chart not be split over two signs, so we adjusted to a custom size to accommodate their full guest list while keeping to the size constraints of the display stand. For both the welcome sign and bar menu, we selected an ethereal feeling script font that would complement the gauzy, translucent atmosphere created by the draping in the reception.
In order to keep that same softness on the table settings, we opted for a semi-translucent vellum paper for the menus. Instead of a stark white or cream menu that would stand out atop the stoneware plates, the vellum creates a sheer effect, blending the edge of the paper and keeping the delicate softness created by the blue and white palette, draping, and wildflower centerpieces.
We are constantly inspired by our clients, but this wedding especially reminded us how beautiful and meaningful thoughtfully created paper goods and art can be. We were so pleased to have the opportunity to create alongside this wonderful couple and their loved ones!
